Shop to change the world? How about shopping less?

Thanks to the Climate Counts Company Scorecard, consumers can now take into account a company's track record on climate change when purchasing various products. The Scorecard by Climate Counts, ranks 56 companies across 8 industries, from apparel to electronics to fast food, on their commitment to reversing climate change.

The larger question is whether ratings like these have impact. Persuading people to shop less for anything and everything would likely make more of a difference. "Ranking companies like Nike and Unilever on their climate change policies is a good effort, but may not have real impact on the environment." From Shopping to stop global warming?
