U.S. scales back climate satellites
U.S. scientists may lose their ability to monitor warming from space using aging satellites that will not be replaced - climate instruments needed to collect more precise data over long periods are being eliminated. President Bush says the U.S. is ready to lead the world in reducing greenhouse gases, but NOAA and NASA scientists say that loss of satellites "places the overall climate program in serious jeopardy..."
