National Day of Climate Action on April 14
Step It Up 2007 has organized a National Day of Climate Action on April 14 with more more than 1,100 rallies in all fifty states. Locations vary from the melting glacier on top of Mt. Rainier, to the levees in New Orleans, to underwater in an endangered coral reef off the coast of Florida, to your neighborhood park.
Find the rally closest to your home, or if there isn't one nearby, host one yourself. Get full details by visiting their website: www.stepitup2007.org.
Pittsburgh-area rallies:
One simple message will unite these rallies - "Step it up, Congress! Enact immediate cuts in carbon emissions, and pledge an 80% reduction by 2050. No half measures, no easy compromises - the time has come to take the real actions that can stabilize our climate."
We need our elected leaders to take the bold steps necessary to make it happen. Rallies in all 50 states are sure to further that goal.

I'm down with protecting the enviroment.
I live near Pittsburgh too... But I have a busy, busy schedule.
Preach on!
I'm "rallying" people for the Steel Mills one. At least get out into the parks while we still have an environment to enjoy!
Some good stuff on this topic in the most recent issue of Newsweek. Don't be put off by the picture of Arnie on the cover.
The rally made it on the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. KDKA local news tonight. Maybe it will be on at 11 p.m. too. In addition, the national news (on a different station) did quite a bit of coverage of the national Step-it-Up effort.
