Cold winters caused by warmer summers

Not so surprising since warmer air holds more moisture. Scientists offer an explanation for the harsh winters recently experienced in the Northern Hemisphere - increasing temperatures and melting ice in the Arctic regions produce more snowfall in the autumn months at lower latitudes.
