High Temperatures in July
High temperatures in a limited area for a short time are not evidence for global warming, but temps in July came on the heels of a report released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which concluded that the 2000's were the hottest years since record-keeping began, with global indicators pointing toward continued and unequivocal warming. See noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2010/20100728_stateoftheclimate.html
Independent analyses by NOAA and NASA also indicate that January-June 2010 was the hottest 6-month period on record. Climate scientists project this long-term warming trend to continue and accelerate, unless measures are taken to reduce carbon emissions.
